Search Engine’s Deals & Coupons Beat the Competition (Hint: It’s Not Google)

Information and innovation were this week’s superstars, front and center at the online marketing conference SMX East 2009. Financial savings and hot deals, meanwhile, are top-of-mind nearly every day as we’re all on the lookout for ways to relieve pressure on the pocketbook.

Falling squarely into all of the above camps, Ask.com has launched a simple way to find out about incredible deals on the Web. The news of this release was lost in the flurry of SMX East, but since this helpful new tool can help us all save some dough — and with it, some peace of mind — I thought it was worth sharing with you.

The new Ask Deals serves up discount and savings offers on products, right from Ask’s blended search results. Returned for queries about products from coats to computers to coffee, Ask Deals brings together the most comprehensive database of savings offers in one convenient location, supplying them just as they’re being sought out. Even simpler, Deal of the Day highlights a hand-picked offer delivered right to a user’s inbox or Ask Deals home page skin.

Ever the innovator, no major search engine has such a robust feature dedicated to scouring the Web for special offers and discounts. The Deal Detector™ scans publicized promotions, circulars and coupon sites, as well as the less exposed forums, message boards and blogs that often uncover incredible opportunities before anyone else.

And not to call anyone out, unlike the shopping search features on other major engines, Ask Deals displays the offers clearly, makes it easy to share, and works without logging in or selecting a vertical search option. Not only does a user see the discounted price, but Ask Deals also calculates how much the original price is being discounted through the offer. Coupons, stores, brands and categories are also helpful filters for product-related searches.

“In a tough economy and with the holidays approaching, Ask Deals arrives at just the right time for consumers as a one-stop shop for value. It’s the answer our users are looking for, too, since searches for coupons on Ask.com have shot up almost 50 percent in 2009,” said Scott Garell, president, Ask Networks.

We’re looking for deals and Ask’s made it easier than ever to get them — all of them. Coupons and special discounts compiled from across the Web, in one convenient place, made easy to share, and delivered at your command. All you have to do is Ask.
